Tuesday brought the Fulshear Chargers to KHS for what turned out to be a thrilling pre-season matchup! The Coogs came out well defensively, holding Fulshear to 8 pts in the first and 12 pts in the 2nd, but were struggling to score themselves. A slow offensive first half saw your Coogs heading into halftime down by 1 pt. The 3rd saw more of the same for the Cougars, as they continued to struggle from the field while Fulshear got a little life and headed into the final quarter with the lead 38-31. Your Cougars finally got some momentum in the 4th, picking up their defensive intensity and scoring. The 4th quarter ended in a tie, at 49 a piece. Both teams battled in the first OT defensively, only allowing each 3 pts., with both teams having opportunities to win it down the stretch. Heading into the 2nd overtime at 52-52, Kempner was able to get and maintain a lead, with some clutch free throws by Josh Ogunlade and Coby Farley, that gave KHS the 63-57 victory over Fulshear.

Notable performances from a few guys were huge in what was a GREAT TEAM WIN! Josh Ogunlade finished the game with 28 pts, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals. Jalen Bates chipped in 12 pts and 4 assists. Coby Farley, after being out due to injury for 3 weeks, chipped in 8 pts, 3 assists, and 4 steals in his first game back. The rest of the team battled and chipped in throughout to help the Coogs get to 5-3 on the season.

The Cougars head to the Carlisle/Kreuger Classic this weekend. They take on Clear Creek at 10:30 a.m. and Houston Sterling at 3:30 at Clear Creek High School on November 29, 2018.

Congratulations to our 9a and JV teams on their victories as well. JV won 45-41 while our 9a team won 41-30. Great job Coogs!
